Stone walls
A great way to add some texture to a garden is to build walls using stone. The walls themselves go beyond simply creating the structure of the garden and become a feature of the garden. In the case of our recent Hunters Hill garden the stone walls are one of the dominant featured aspects of the garden.
In other uses a random shaped stone as a cladding to a very geometric set of walls adds a softness, provides relief to a modern house in Turramurra with strong horizontal lines. The capping of the walls with blue stone ties back to the clean lines of the house.
Natural stone ages very well in all aspects. Stones like sandstone can be left to age gracefully with the weather, and won't need constant maintenance and cleaning, and they also won't go out of fashion like many modern design trends and materials.
